Bird & Co was established in London in 1981 to deliver board and executive search to clients around the world. Since then, we have evolved to become a broader leadership consultancy also offering non-executive and executive coaching and mentoring through our sister company: The Coaching House.

Ready to Board puts aspiring Non-Executive Directors ahead of the curve as they prepare for their first board appointment.
Securing a first board is highly competitive, so it’s important to differentiate your experience and achievements. Ready to Board occupies a unique position at the convergence of coaching, mentoring and search.

Four years ago, we prepared a research paper on the dearth of women Chairs in FTSE100 companies. Sadly, little has changed since then — we’re not even in double figures. This despite the evidence that boards with female representation tend to have greater returns on sales and equity.
So, as ardent, long-time supporters of women in business, we set up Ready to Chair, a tailored, one-to-one programme for coaching and mentoring female leaders who are preparing to become first-time Chairs. Like the Ready to Board programme detailed above, our coaching is tried, tested and effective. Mentors are active FTSE350 board members who can help and advise on positioning, presentation, networking and more, so you can take on your new Chair position with confidence and gusto.
